About Your Financial Future?

Let's talk. No pressure. No sales pitch. Just clear answers and a plan tailored to your life.

Advice Rooted in Clarity, Simplicity, and Trust

Alex Seebachan, CFP®, Founder of Clear Advisors

Alex Seebachan, CFP®

Alex is the founder of Clear Advisors, a fee-only financial planning firm based in Maryland. He founded the firm with a simple belief: investors are better served by focusing on the financial decisions they can control than by trying to predict the next market move or chase the next hot stock. Instead, Alex helps clients optimize the areas that have the greatest long-term impact on their financial lives — taxes, retirement income, investment costs, savings, and the countless planning decisions that shape financial success.

Financial planning has been part of Alex's life for as long as he can remember. Having a father who spent a long career as a financial advisor gave him an early look at both the strengths and shortcomings of the traditional wealth management model. After earning a bachelor's degree in finance, becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and beginning his career advising clients on retirement, tax, and investment planning, Alex founded Clear Advisors to build the kind of firm he would want as a client: flat fees, no commissions, no asset gathering, and planning that goes far beyond just managing investments.

What Alex enjoys most is uncovering planning opportunities that can make a meaningful difference in someone's financial future — whether it's identifying a Roth conversion strategy that could save substantial taxes over a lifetime, developing a retirement income plan that provides greater confidence, or helping clients make smarter financial decisions year after year. His goal is simple: to help clients keep more of what they've earned, reduce financial uncertainty, and retire with confidence.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys, staying active, and will rarely turn down a good board game.

What It Means to Be a Clear Advisor

Radical Transparency

You always know how we're paid, what you're paying, and why a recommendation is being made.

Planning Comes First

Taxes, retirement, estate planning, cash flow. Investments matter, but they're not the entire relationship.

Simplicity Over Complexity

If you can't understand what you own or why you own it, something is wrong. Clear advice makes your life simpler.

Long-Term Partnership

We're here to help you make better decisions over decades, not just this year.

Why Clear Advisors Exists

Clear Advisors' mission is to provide transparent, high-value financial planning and investment guidance that empowers individuals and families to make confident decisions with clarity and simplicity. We deliver unbiased advice, fair pricing, and modern tools so clients always understand their plan, their investments, and the steps needed to reach their goals.

Clarity Starts With a Conversation.

If that's the kind of relationship you're looking for, I'd love to talk.

Helping You Make Smarter Financial Decisions
Before and Throughout Retirement

Financial planning isn't about finding the next hot stock or reacting to market headlines. It's about making better financial decisions over time.

At Clear Advisors, we take a planning-first approach. Every recommendation is made within the context of your goals, taxes, retirement timeline, investments, and overall financial picture — because the best financial decisions happen when every piece works together.

Tax Planning

Paying more in taxes than necessary can quietly erode decades of savings.

We help identify proactive strategies designed to reduce lifetime taxes and keep more of what you've earned.

Retirement Planning

Turning your savings into a paycheck that lasts.

We help you gain confidence in when you can retire, how much you can spend, and where your income will come from.

Investment Management

Your investments should support your plan — not drive it.

We build diversified, evidence-based portfolios designed around your goals — and offer both advice-only and fully managed options depending on how involved you want to be.

Take the Stress Out of Retirement

Move forward with confidence. Start Your Financial Plan today.

Investing Made Clear, Simple,
and Built for Real Life

Our approach focuses on long-term discipline, tax efficiency, low costs, and evidence-based strategies — so you can stay focused on the things that matter most.

Our Investment Philosophy

Time in the market beats timing the market.
Research-driven, not headline-driven. Evidence, not predictions.
Simplicity wins. Straightforward portfolios outperform complexity.
Costs and taxes matter. Your net return is what counts.
Stay the course. Reactive decisions during volatility are often the biggest risk to long-term returns.

Our Investing Principles

01

Start With a Plan

Your investments should serve your plan — not the other way around. Every portfolio begins with a financial plan built around your retirement, taxes, cash flow, and long-term goals.

02

Keep It Simple

We don't believe complexity creates value by itself. We start with straightforward, globally diversified portfolios and only add complexity when it meaningfully improves your outcome.

03

Optimize Where It Matters

When it can add real value, we may implement tax-efficient strategies such as asset location, tax-loss harvesting, and household portfolio coordination to improve after-tax results.

Two Ways We Work on Your Investments

Every Clear Advisors client gets an investment plan. Depending on the level of involvement you want, we either guide you through implementing it — or we handle it for you.

Core Planning & Full Planning

Investment Advice

We build your investment plan and give you clear guidance on how to implement it — allocation, account types, contributions, and rebalancing. You handle the trades in your accounts.

Best For

Confident do-it-yourselfers who want expert guidance but prefer to stay hands-on with their accounts.

Managed Planning

Portfolio Management

We manage your investments directly — trades, rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, and coordination across accounts — so you can stay focused on what matters most.

Best For

Clients who prefer a fully hands-off experience and want their advisor doing the work.

  • Annual Proactive Financial Review +
This is a structured, working session — not just a check-in.

Before we meet, I review your full financial picture and identify planning opportunities. During the meeting, we focus on key decisions and prioritize what matters most.

    You leave with:
    • Clear action steps
    • Updated projections
    • Specific recommendations to improve your financial situation

If these reviews are skipped, important opportunities can be missed — sometimes costing thousands over time.
  • One On-Demand Meeting Included +
Separate from your scheduled annual review — these are situational meetings for questions or decisions that come up during the year.

    Meetings may be initiated:
    • By you when a financial situation or question comes up
    • By your advisor when a follow-up or specific issue should be addressed

    Example topics:
    • Retirement decisions
    • Tax questions
    • Job changes
    • Roth conversion discussions
    • Investment allocation questions
    • Major purchase decisions
    • Social Security timing
    • Cash flow concerns

    You can reach out by:
    • Email for written questions or document review
    • Phone or text for time-sensitive decisions

    Typical use cases:
    • "Is this 401k change form filled out right?"
    • "I got a bonus — does my Roth contribution math still work?"
    • Quick gut check before signing an offer letter
    • Clarifying something we discussed at our last meeting

Reserve longer conversations and bigger decisions for your On-Demand Meeting — that's what it's there for.

  • A Second Proactive Financial Review Each Year +
A second review allows us to go beyond a once-per-year planning cycle and make more refined decisions throughout the year.

    With two reviews, we can:
    • Revisit your plan with updated information at the beginning of the year
    • Adjust strategies before key deadlines like tax filing
    • Go deeper into areas that require more detailed analysis
    • Move through important planning topics more efficiently as your complexity grows

This leads to more timely decisions, fewer missed opportunities, and a more consistently optimized financial plan.
  • A Second On-Demand Meeting Included +
Separate from your scheduled proactive reviews — these are situational meetings for questions or decisions that come up during the year. Full Planning includes two on-demand meetings to match the higher complexity these clients typically have.

    Meetings may be initiated:

1

Financial Planning Session

We really get to know you — your goals, priorities, concerns, and your financial picture at a high level. Taxes, retirement, investments, cash flow, and upcoming decisions.

This is a deeper conversation where we understand the areas of your financial life where we can provide the most value. We listen first — then start identifying opportunities and priorities. No recommendations are delivered here — this session is about understanding you fully before we build anything.
2

Your Free Personalized Financial Plan

We present a personalized financial plan built specifically around you, addressing your highest-priority items first. You'll see exactly what the next 6–12 months would look like working together.

This is your meeting — not a sales pitch. We walk through your retirement projections, tax plan, investment plan, and clear action steps. There is no cost until you decide to move forward. You see how we think before you commit to anything.
3

Ongoing Guidance — A Long-Term Partnership

Once you're a client, we work together as long-term partners. Meetings rotate through topics based on your individual situation, and you have access to guidance as life changes come up.

Depending on your package, we meet once or twice per year for structured planning reviews. Between meetings, you can reach us by email or phone with questions. Our goal is to be the trusted advisor you call when a big financial decision comes up — not just an annual checkup.

Why do we offer free, personalized plans?

Simple: transparency. I want you to see how we think, how we plan, and how we'd help you before you commit to anything. Our goal isn't to overwhelm you with complexity — it's to help you make better financial decisions with confidence, year after year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can't find what you're looking for? Email us at info@clearadvisors.finance.

Who do you specialize in helping?+
We work best with high-earning professionals approaching or in retirement, typically with $500K–$5 million in net worth. Our clients are looking for an ongoing relationship, not a one-time plan. They value clear, straightforward advice, believe in evidence-based investing over speculation, and want their financial life simplified and optimized.
Do you work with clients outside Maryland?+
Yes. While Maryland is our primary focus, we can work with clients in other states depending on registration requirements.
Do I need a certain net worth to work with you?+
No minimum. Our clients range from early accumulators to multimillion-dollar households. The only requirement is that you want expert advice and are ready to take action.
What's the difference between Core and Full Planning?+
Core Planning includes one annual Proactive Financial Review and one on-demand meeting for questions or decisions that come up during the year. Full Planning includes everything in Core, plus a second annual review and a second on-demand meeting — better suited for clients with more complexity or who want more frequent check-ins. Both cover core areas like retirement, tax planning, investments, insurance, estate, cash flow, and more.
Can I be a planning client without investment management?+
Yes. Investment management is optional. Most clients begin with planning and later add implementation when they want full support.
What does "flat-fee-only" mean?+
Fee-only: We are only compensated by our clients — never by commissions. Flat-fee: Your cost is fixed and not based on your assets. Your fee reflects the time, expertise, and ongoing resources required to serve you.
How does billing work?+
All services are billed monthly through AdvicePay, a secure payment platform built specifically for financial advisors. Services operate on a month-to-month subscription basis — no long-term contract commitment, and no cancellation fees.
When does billing start?+
For Core Planning and Full Planning, billing begins once you sign the advisory agreement and complete your first payment through AdvicePay. Services begin once onboarding is complete and the client relationship is active. Managed Planning is also billed as a monthly subscription through AdvicePay, beginning once advisory agreements are signed.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?+
Yes. You may upgrade or downgrade your service tier at any time. Tier changes become effective on the next monthly billing cycle.
What happens after I send my cancellation notice?+
After we receive your written cancellation notice, services and billing continue for 30 calendar days. You'll receive full advisory services during that notice period, and there are no partial refunds. This gives us time to finalize any outstanding planning items and make sure you're set up well for whatever comes next.
How do you invest client money?+
Our approach is based on long-term, evidence-based investing; diversified, low-cost index funds; a focus on simplicity; tax-efficient portfolio construction; matching risk to your goals; and strategy, not speculation. We often use low-cost, all-in-one diversified funds because of their strong structure and long performance history, and tailor the mix to your specific goals and risk tolerance.
Are all-in-one funds diversified enough?+
Yes. These funds hold thousands of globally diversified stocks and bonds. They are used by major institutions, pensions, and endowments — offering simplicity with institutional-level diversification behind the scenes.
Do you offer more customized portfolios?+
Yes. For clients with large taxable accounts or more complex needs, we offer enhanced, tax-efficient portfolio designs and more hands-on implementation.
Do you offer tax preparation?+
We intentionally focus on tax planning rather than tax preparation — the strategic decisions made throughout the year (Roth conversions, harvesting, withdrawal timing) tend to have far more impact than the return itself. We work alongside your CPA or tax preparer to make sure your plan and your filing are fully aligned.
Do you help with estate planning?+
Yes — we review wills and beneficiaries, help determine whether a trust may be appropriate, coordinate with your attorney, and discuss estate taxes and gifting strategies. (We do not draft legal documents.)
Can you work with my CPA, attorney, or insurance agent?+
Absolutely. We coordinate with your existing professionals so your entire financial life is aligned.
Do you offer in-person or virtual meetings?+
Both. Choose whichever is more convenient for you.
Will you tell me exactly what to do?+
Yes. Our recommendations are clear, direct, and actionable — broken into simple steps.
How does cancellation work? Are there fees?+
All services are month-to-month with no long-term contract and no cancellation fees. To cancel, simply send us written notice — either by email or letter. Services and billing continue for 30 calendar days after we receive your notice. This gives us time to wrap up any final planning items and coordinate the transition.
Can I email my advisor with questions?+
Yes. You can email us anytime regarding life changes, investments, taxes, or anything affecting your financial picture.
What happens if something happens to my advisor?+
We have a full business continuity plan in place. You always retain access to your accounts and financial plan. We never hold custody of your money — custodians (such as Charles Schwab) safeguard your assets. A designated backup advisor will help transition service seamlessly if needed.
Is linking my accounts safe?+
Yes. Our planning software uses read-only, bank-level encryption. It cannot move money or access login credentials — it only reads balances and holdings to help us build accurate projections.
What can I send you over email?+
Please don't send sensitive personal or financial information — Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, etc. — via email, since it isn't a fully secure communication method. For secure document sharing, we'll provide access to our client portal. Please also note that we do not accept trade instructions or investment directions via email.
Is a financial planner worth it?+
Research consistently shows that households working with a financial planner build significantly more wealth, reduce taxes, avoid emotionally driven investment mistakes, and make clearer financial decisions. Beyond the numbers, clients gain peace of mind and a trusted guide throughout life's biggest financial milestones.
What is the sign-up process like?+
Once you're ready: (1) We provide disclosures and our agreement to e-sign. (2) We invite you to our planning portal. (3) We ask for key documents (paystub, 401k, tax return, statements, etc.). (4) You reflect on your goals and priorities. (5) We begin analyzing, building projections, and crafting your personalized plan. We review everything together and help you implement each step.
